However, the microwave, and the various cookware available for it, can make cooking so easy and delicious that anyone can do it – even kids. Look for microwave recipes when looking for recipes for kids to make.

The key to getting the most out of the microwave is finding the right cookware. Lots of microwave cookware is food-specific, designed especially for cooking foods you might never have thought could be cooked well in the microwave. Some of these microwave containers lend new meaning to the term ‘quick and easy’ and can even allow you to revamp your do-ahead dishes in even easier scheduling. It’s especially helpful when preparing recipes for kids to make.

For example, there are now hinged microwave cookware containers that allow you to construct a fancy wrap from scratch. You simply lay the wrap in one side, fill with the meats and veggies of your choice, close the lid and cook in one operation. You’ve got lunch or dinner in a hurry. Kids of all ages love eating and making wraps like this.

My Funny Experience Learning How To Us A Microwave

Over 30 plus years ago (wow, how time flies) I got my very first microwave from the Sears store. Back then they were really expensive so it was a kind of a big deal for me.

Once had it set up I tried boiling some water in a cup, I might have made some hot chocolate but can’t remember for sure.

Next I tried nuking marshmallows because someone told me that they puffed up really big so I quickly did one and marveled as it puffed up larger and larger and because it was so much fun I had to cook a few more.

Next I thought I had better make my first dinner in my microwave and for got that I decided on frozen, breaded fish fillets since I thought that would be a pretty easy thing to try.

You have to remember that , back then there really weren’t any easy microwave directions on food packages like today so I estimated how long I would need to cook the fish.

Well, after a few minutes cooking time I checked them and decided that there was no possible way they could be cooked that fast so I put them back in for another round of cooking (by the way, this was before the term nuking existed).

After what I felt surely had to be ample cooking time I removed them and went to eat my first meal. It should come as no surprise that the fish was as tough as shoe leather and I had to use a sharp, serrated knife to cut them but I still ate them since I was proud of my new microwave and the meal I had just made with it :)

Over thirty years have passed since then and I have now progressed to the point where almost all of the food I prepare is in my trusty microwave. I am currently on my third one but already have my next microwave oven chosen.

It’s going to be a stainless steel microwave as I am really loving the modern look of stainless steel and because I’ve had such great luck the past couple of years with Panasonic products.
